::I have a soft spot for this park as I spent many hours playing here as a child in the 70’s. Originally called “Ladies’ Garden” because it was open only to ladies and children, the park used to have a great play area with swings, wooden roundabouts and other equipment that would surely give a current day HSE inspector a heart attack. So the park has since then undergone a complete revamp and the rickety old equipment that we grazed our knees on has been replaced with modern, clean and safe slides, swings and play sets for younger kids. There are nice covered picnics benches, shaded sitting areas and paved walking areas. The vegetation is okay although I think the grass could be better maintained but the palm trees provide and an awesome sitting area, picnic spot or somewhere for an afternoon snooze. I come here whenever I can to have my lunch or just relax and unwind as it’s 1 minute walk away from my office. And even though the park is adjacent to two busy roads, the trees on the perimeter do a great job of insulating some of the noise of the traffic. There is also a small fenced football pitch (1/4 size maybe?) with AstroTurf and it’s open for anyone to use on a first come- first served basis. There are toilets but I haven’t used them so I don’t know how clean (or otherwise) they are. The park is connected to another park - Andalus Gardens - by a pedestrian bridge. There are also recycling bins and I wish more people would make use of these.
